Racing into the Terrific twos!

My little man is two!  It has been a joy to have Ike a part of our family these last two years and I wouldn't trade his spunky attitude for anything.  From day one this boy has always known what he wants and needs.  The interesting part has been trying to change his mind or convenience him that mom just might be right.  For only two this guy has gone head to head with me over clothing, putting toys away and what to eat.  I've never experienced that determination or independence at such a young age before.  My girls just always believed what mom said.  This guy needs proof first.

Ike is doing really well.  He is starting three or more word sentences.  He understands and listens to everything (Obeying is a different story).  His favorite part of the day is when his 'sisters' come home. He doesn't call them by name, just sisters.  He likes making popcorn (old fashion air pop kind) but doesn't eat very much of it.  He likes doing the male bonding thing with his dad but his first choice (and BFF) is Papa Randy.   Ike likes nursery and getting him to leave (to go home) usually requires a treat.  We attended Library Story time over the winter.  I think he enjoyed it.  He always seemed excited to go, but rarely participated in the songs UNTIL Baby bear played peek-a-boo with the group.  Then he smiled and livened up.  The thing is, Baby bear was usually the last animal to come out of the box.  Maybe he was just excited it was finished.

Ike is a very sweet boy.  He is gentle with younger kids and patient with his little friends who hug and pull on his arm.  He likes me to sing to him before nap time.  He is an absolute joy to have around and I'm so grateful he has joined our family.  We love you little IKE!
Funny story I want to remember: I made a cake with the car theme similar to this one.  The road was straight instead of curved and the sign was missing.  What happened to it?  It fell off the table and I cried.  Mason came through and made the cake pictured!  He did a far better job.
I was lined up to help Ike open his presents.  Ike took the present from me and gave it to his BFF Papa Randy to help.  When my dad is around no one is good enough.  But I love seeing their little friendship.
He waited until after we sang Happy Birthday, and then he took off the decoration and licked off the frosting.
Back to the presents...at first he was shy and timid to pull the paper off.  Then he saw trucks were under the paper and he picked up on the idea of 'opening presents' very quick.
Ike's parents and sisters got him a remote control car.  At first he wasn't sure what to think.  In fact he didn't like the car crashing into his new semi truck.  So he moved it from the floor onto Papa's lap and guarded it with his life.  The blue/green blur is the race car.

That motorcycle is sweet. My boys would love that. And the cake is DARLING! I would have cried too if I spent all that time on it and it fell on the ground. Way to save the day Mason!
