I have never been a big fan of reading mostly because I'm a slow reader and don't remember page to page what is happening. I just have a hard time focusing on the words and not letting my
mind run away from the story. In fact most of you that went to school with me know that I've found ways around reading a book and still getting a decent grade on the report that was due later. I've tried to learn to enjoy reading and experimented on a few authors but in the end I only found reading uneventful. I have a love for one author, John Grisham, and I have read many of his books. I've also seen many of his books into movies. But this last summer after
some pushing and shoving I jumped on the Twilight band wagon. I read the book in like 3 days and loved it. Which then pushed me onto the rest of the series. I've read the series three complete times now. Although I have to admit that I am burned out reading the same novel time after time so I ventured back out to find more books that might be interesting. I of course read John Grisham recent books, The Appeal and Playing for Pizza which were fun books, but none that I would recommend. In fact they really weren't good enough to even talk about after I finished! Then I
read The Shack by William P. Young. Although it was a thought provoking book I personally didn't enjoy it or felt it was a page turner. It is about a man who's daughter is kidnapped and murdered. Years later he goes to the Shack and spends three days with God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Again very thought provoking, and it did also have a interesting twist in the end, but the middle got a little long and confusing; as the author does not have the same religious beliefs as I do. It is a short book, so if you are a reader, try it out.

The biggest reason for this post is not to brag about the books I've been able to actually complete, although that is a good idea, but to tell you about my Valentine's Day present. I just have to say that, a good husband knows what to buy that will excite you even if you don't know what that item would be! Ha Ha! Anyway, the gift came a little late but was from Amazon.com...what in the WORLD would I want from the book site? I opened it and was shocked. Inside were the Chronicles of Narnia box set. I've been wanting to read them for a while but I
just haven't gone to the library or bought them. I read the first book in one day. Now you might all say WOW! that is great but in truth these books are shorter than the average novel and have pictures every few pages. I then read the second book the next day. I am enjoying these books so much. I never thought I was the fantasy type person, but I can actually imagine myself in the books. Also, C.S. Lewis is kind of comical writer in my opinion. Anyway, I will admit that the Twilight series has gotten me hooked on reading for a while. I'm still not a devoted bookworm but I do enjoy spending a day here and there reading. These aren't new books so I'm sure most of you have already experienced these, but for those who have not, try them out. They are easy to read and quite enjoyable.

Now I know some of you are bookworms. So please, if you have any suggestion on a good book let me know. Remember one or two books at a time from your list...I'm still not totally committed to reading!

Oh Tara-T, you have to give Dan Brown's books a try. I too am not a reader in any way shape or form. I didn't read a single book through any of my English classes in HS. In college Ash and I got into Dan Brown. My fav is Angels and Demons, but Digital Fortress is a good one too. ANd then there is of course the much debated Devinci Code, but read the other ones first. Great author in my opinion, and I actually read the entire book, doesn't happen often.
I read "The Chronicles" every year! It's a classical. Roy is always comparing it to the church... you'll see...
Try Shannon Hale books, Robin McKinley books... their for teens but lots of fun!
I don't buy books anymore, I just check 'em out. Which is why I'm always late in reading the popular ones...
it is funny that the Twighlight series got you into reading, it did the same for me. I also read the Shack and had the same feeling. Though provoking, interesting point of view on the Godhead, but very slow. I think i skimmed the majority of the book just to finish it.
I read The Bleachers, by John Grisham, it is not a typical John Grisham book, but it was good. I finished it in 1 day. Just brings you back to high school sports and how great they were.
I have a few other quick reads when you are ready you can try them out to.
C.S. Lewis is awesome! I love the Chronicles of Narnia. You should read Screwtape Letters. It's a short devlishly comical one. When you read the Chronicles pay attention to all of the relgious metaphors. The may be children's books but they can be very thought provoking. Enjoy!
