Masterpiece of taste, not looks

As most of you know I haven't spent very much time in the kitchen during my teen/young adult years. So now I'm learning to cook and preserve food by phone calls to my mother, grandmother, Mason's mother, and Mason's grandmother. I've even started myself on fire once, while Mason laughed. Kitchen time has been quite an adventure that I'm not so sure I will ever master.

Anyhow, I ventured my first pie. Pumpkin pie to be exact, as it is my favorite and most long for pie during the year. I getting very excited for November for one reason....This pie. The crust was the most enjoyable to make (rolling of my eyes!). I had to re-roll the dough three times. Getting it even and then into the pie dish is quite an art. Then I realized I didn't know what to do with the little left over at the top, so I just folded it over. Not the prettiest move but it worked. Next pie I make will be much better looking. The filling was easy and that part I'm not exaggerating. Just mix and pour.
The taste test....Although I did not master a very pretty pie, I did not mess up the taste. It was the same delicious taste that I wait all year for. The same mouth watering sensation I just can't ever get enough of. Some people can't tell the difference between store bought and homemade...I CAN...Homemade is definately more enjoyable. Not to mention the aroma that fills your house is heavenly. Again Pumpkin pie is my favorite and most overeaten pie by me. I was not disappointed and can't wait to taste (not make) my next one for Turkey day. Thank you Kay for the assistance by phone.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
